Thero Services has been tasked by Powerline Africa with ensuring the safety, health, and environmental compliance of the construction of the 132kV Overhead line at the BrandValley/Rietkloof project. This involves rigorous adherence to Occupational Health and Safety regulations, encompassing risk assessment, mitigation, and ongoing monitoring. Additionally, Thero Services is mandated to operate within the parameters set by the Environmental Management Program (EMPr), Environmental Authorisation, Water Use License, and relevant national and provincial legislation. Meanwhile, Power Line Africa (PLA), commissioned by Besamandla, undertakes the construction of the 132kV Overhead Line from the Komsberg Substation to the Rietkloof Substation, divided into four sections: Komsberg, Bonne Esperance, Brandvalley, and Rietkloof. Spanning approximately 25 km per section and located around 30 km from Majiesfontein in the Western Cape province, the project traverses through the Lainsburg Local Municipality within the Central Karoo District Municipality.
Thero Services plays a critical role in enhancing the project's overall condition, efficiency, and functionality by proposing mitigation measures to prevent health and safety incidents. This includes outlining health and safety requirements, ensuring alignment with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, and overseeing compliance monitoring. Moreover, Thero Services is responsible for ensuring environmental compliance throughout the construction process, including adherence to Environmental Authorisation, EMPr, and relevant legislation. Mitigating risks and negative findings that could impact project quality and environmental legal compliance are also part of their mandate. By implementing robust monitoring, evaluation, and reporting mechanisms, alongside promoting sound environmental practices, Thero Services ensures that environmental management remains a priority throughout the construction phases.
