The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education (KZN DoE) embarked on a significant initiative known as the SAFE programme, aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of select schools within the province. Spearheaded by the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) as the implementing agent, the programme focused on refurbishing and establishing vital ablution and water facilities tailored to the specific needs and status quo of each school. Recognizing the importance of safety, health, and environmental (SHE) compliance, Thero Services was entrusted with ensuring adherence to relevant regulations, including the OHS Act 85 of 1993 and the South African Schools Act 84 of 1996. Tasked with providing comprehensive SHE services aligned with the project's requirements and DBSA OHS specifications, Thero Services addressed critical areas such as civil construction structures, sanitation facilities, security management, and access points across for he below rural schools to name a few:
