Thero Services was selected by Babcock International on behalf of ESKOM to handle Health, Safety and Environmental services for a 200+ Kilometres Overhead project in Northern Cape from Olifantshoek to Upington on behalf of ESKOM.  The project entailed the following activities: 

  1. Surveying and Pegging 

  2. Soil Nominations

  3. Bush Clearing 

  4. Foundations (Excavations, Setting, Concreting and Backfilling) 

  5. Tower Assembly and Tower Erection 

  6. Line Stringing and Regulation 

  7. Rehabilitation 


Thero Services assumed responsibility of undertaking Environmental Services and work that entailed Bush Clearing, Vegetation Management and Access Road Construction. This involved SHE documentation development, conducting inductions, providing training sessions, and facilitating toolbox talks to ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Environmental requirements of the project.  Additionally, their mandate extended to managing environmental functions of the projects, including implementing conditions outlined in the Environmental Authorisation, Environmental Management Plan, and Record of Decision, Auditing and Report Writing. 


Thero Services' role also encompassed fulfilling site management functions essential to project compliance. This included managing the implementation of biodiversity offset programs, conducting vegetation assessments and management activities, and conducting environmental surveys. Through these multifaceted responsibilities, Thero Services played a crucial role in ensuring both the environmental integrity and operational efficiency of the powerline construction projects.
