CSI

The Corporate Social Initiative (CSI) embarked on by Thero Services for the Grade 10 Science learners of Iketsetseng Comprehensive Secondary School stands as a beacon of educational empowerment and industry engagement. On the 7th of May 2021, amidst the backdrop of the impressive Lethabo Power Station in Free State, 30 eager learners and 10 accompanying staff were granted an invaluable opportunity. This 1-day field excursion was not just a mere outing; it was a transformative journey into the heart of Environmental Science, orchestrated to provide hands-on learning experiences that resonate far beyond the classroom walls.

At the helm of this educational odyssey was the overarching goal to equip learners with practical insights into the intricate workings of Environmental Management, Air Quality, Water Management, Biodiversity, Waste Management, and the broader spectrum of career prospects within these fields. The learners were not passive spectators but active participants, engaging with industry specialists at the forefront of Environmental Science. Guided by the expertise of seasoned professionals, they delved into real-world scenarios, gaining first-hand knowledge that transcends textbooks and classroom engagements. It was a day of exploration, discovery, and inspiration, laying the groundwork for future environmental stewards and leaders.

This initiative was not just a philanthropic gesture; it was a testament to the power of collaboration and community investment. As part of the ESKOM Lethabo Power Station Fugitive Dust Fall Monitoring Project wherein Thero Services partnered with Gondwana Environmental Solutions provided essential Environmental Services. By extending their expertise to include educational outreach, they exemplified a holistic approach to Corporate Social Responsibility. Beyond fulfilling regulatory obligations, they embraced their role as catalysts for positive change, nurturing the next generation of environmental custodians and igniting a passion for sustainable practices that will reverberate for years to come.
