Thero Services was entrusted by Hatch-Goba in their capacity as an Environmental and Social Consultant for a project funded by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). This endeavour focused on the pre-feasibility study phase aimed at exploring the viability of establishing a steel plant and associated infrastructure. The investigation encompassed three primary locations:
Phalaborwa
Middleburg
Richard’s Bay.
In their role as Social and Stakeholder Engagement Lead for Permits and Approvals, Thero Services executed a range of crucial activities. These included providing environmental and social input for engineering designs, project scheduling, and costing. Additionally, they conducted a socio-economic baseline assessment to inform the Environmental due diligence report and the Environmental Permitting Strategy. Thero Services also formulated a comprehensive Stakeholder Engagement Strategy and Plan, conducted Environmental and Social Screening, Gap Analysis, and Community Asset Mapping, and developed Workforce Planning and Local Procurement Strategies. Throughout their involvement, Thero Services demonstrated commendable professionalism and efficiency.
